Stardoll Re-releasing Rares

I know, I know, this is old news, but I thought talking about Stardoll re-releasing rares and having an open "debate" would be a fun idea.
For years, people have been on Stardoll for the friends it houses, the experience, and of course the aspect of collecting clothing. In real life, it would be very unlikely that Stardoll members could afford the clothes Stardoll replicates. This is why collecting is so much fun. We can have clothing that we usually couldn't have, where we can use it to express our fashionable ideas. Another aspect of collecting is the pure rush or getting all the DKNY pieces or that rare dress re-released two years ago. That is personally why I collect. There are many other reasons for collecting, but what I listed seems common among the members I talk to. So, if someone spends valuable time and money on a rare item or items, what makes it right for Stardoll to re-release rares? Another negative about
re-realising rares is that they will not be unique anymore. Many people would buy the then-rares and wear them, making one look like a fashion zombie. But, to every bad thing, there is a good thing. When Stardoll re-releases rares, people that were not able to buy the clothes or accessories the first time around now have the chance to own what they have been craving. Another positive to Stardoll re-realising items is that Stardoll members do not have to pay an outrageous amount of money for something they would like to own. But, it is always a risk for anyone to buy something at an outrageous price, because Stardoll has the right to re-release whatever they like, so beware.
----------
So now that I enlightened you all on the bad and good of Stardoll re-releasing items, what is your opinion? Please feel free to post in the comments, I would love to hear your side of the story!
----------
Below: Victoria's Secret Angel Wings that have been recently re-released as a gift for joining a contest: Once rare, I saw them selling for over 1000, but now, a measly 40stardollars. These are one of the countless items that have been re-released.

I don't collect, so it's no big deal to me :)
But it really sucks for people that do, because they lose a ton of money :/

I always thought collecting is a bad idea no offence but it's just stardoll , you know a doll nothing real in it , i even blame myself for getting superstar memberships , it's just a fake game for me what im concerating on right now is the realy life and how i dress up..

back to the topic , i think it's just how stardoll think " you will release them taking benefits of more members joinging and more memberships sold, and it will be good and bad in the same time , for every single person even collectors"
and they are right , sometimes collectors miss something and stardoll release it .. so it's just how fox always think =S

@K_E_O_S_H_A-No offense at all, I agree! I try not to collect, but it is addicting, but like anyone that is addicted to something, Iam getting over my addiction :) But I agree aobut the superstar memberships, because I just waste money by getting them!

Hey,
I'm so annoyed by this subject. Not to burn down your posts because it's obviously important to many people on stardoll. So I don't mean to say people shouldn't talk about this, I just want to express my frustration. Let me explain! :) This subject is important to collectors, that collect pieces - wich they like to call rare. But there's the problem they call stuff rare! And then ask people to pay bizar prices for them! I personally don't collect anything except for HB's (not all, only wich I like). I can not imagine to want to pay more than 60sd for something. And if I would, it would have to be LE. But not something that just got manifested as rare, while clearly the label says otherwise. I guess that's just how it works in society, people always need to desire something. That's how some stuff gets inaccessible for a majority. Anyway, that's not why I'm frustrated.
The part that puts me off is when people start to complain. When they point their finger at Stardoll saying in whatever way that they're doing something wrong (how dare they, they're not being loyal/kind/whatever to collectors).. when they re-release something. COME ON! You decided yourself to pay a price for something somebody just made up. Stardoll never made any statements about rares, or any item at all, to keep items their value equal. There are no guidelines for re-releasing, so they have the right to do whatever they want.
Paying a load of SD for something is one thing, but getting mad at Stardoll for re-releasing.. Ugh. No, don't pull that stunt with me. Take responsibility for your own decisions. I've heard people say Stardoll only want to make money, well that's exactly what this is about. They don't earn when you pay someone else 1000$, they do when they put something in the archive store.

This is off-topic, but kinda on-topic at the same time.

I hate how collectors will buy rare, nice things and never wear them. Especially when the collector has a male medoll, in which case the clothing couldn't be fit onto the medoll at all.

Why should these collectors have countless rare items that they rarely wear, and don't have ANY significance to them, when non-collectors just love the item, and don't care that it's rare?

This is how it is for me and the DKNY ruffle skirt. This skirt is my style. It's beautiful. To put it frankly, it is my FAVORITE ITEM that has EVER been on Stardoll!

But do I have it? No. I have asked people countless times, but I don't have 1000 Stardollars. I'm not allowed to buy it on eBay. I am left annoyed at collectors, prices, and anyone who is selfish enough to have it and never wear it, when I would wear it nearly EVERY DAY!

This ticks me off so much, as you can probably tell.

Sorry for the rant, but I love this skirt, and I'm annoyed at greedy, selfish collectiors.

PS- If you or anyone you know is leaving Stardoll soon, and has the DKNY Ruffle Skirt for a reasonable price, I am happy to buy it!

Its not fair to people who bought rares from starbazaar and paid so much more. Its just gonna make them so angry.

Lucie/lgap said...

I hate that Stardoll does this, I'm not a collector, and if once I thought about becoming one, I must certainly not, now. I mean, spending all that money, for the clothes to be rereleased, and worst of all, for free?!
I'm pretty sure Stardoll knows which items are rare, so why rerelease them, they earn much more when the items are rare and sell for thousands of Stardollars, don't they?

Maddy/maddy65 said...

I think, that is not fair to collectors when they re-release an item, because they wasted alot of money and time trying to find it. It also can be irritating if the rare you bought for alot of money got re-released 2 days later(that happend to me).

But now, since Stardoll is re-releasing alot of stuff, I have sold most of my collections so I can have money for LE, or for something else, since I am trying to limit the amount of money I spend on Stardoll itself.

ADJAJA/Anna said...

I have already expressed my [angry?] opinion of this, so all I have to say is that stardoll needs to have some respect.

uh oh, i've been buying in archive! i dont know what to say! i have been collecting but i dont trade so i wont get scammed!

Sad. I would rather pay outrageous prices for a rare then getting it knocked down by same 'ol Stardoll.

gaby-052 said...

i thinks is a bad idea to do this beacuse people have paid a lot for this rares its a shame stardoll re release some of them!

Cherri Blossom said...

i would like to collect but i dont have enough money ever!

also collecting and becoming popular it sortof everyones main goal on stardoll. if they re-release everything youll just be know as another stardollian

its super unfair that they do this it takes away the fun of stardoll.

mabey one day stardoll will just be another boring activity to do on your computer every afternoon where nothing happens.. hopefully not

katsumy / mailgirl101 said...

I think it's unfair! Honestly..

They shouldn't release them, tho, It's sometimes good that you can get some free rares and then sell them for 150.

So, I kinda am disappointed!
I hope they dont release mary-kate stuff!

It`s really too bad for people who bought all stuff like this before for high price.
:/
But,it`s good for me!xDD

I'd agree with both K_E_O_S_H_A and Chicago3! Collecting is bad idea but so addicting! There's actually not much to debate about here. The victoria's secret wings have never been labeled as rare from stardoll. They don't re-release dkny or dirty dancing dress or something... :]

lady__gagaa said...

i don't collect and i won't collect clothes just because they're super rare or DKNY or LE or i don't know what...i only buy the clothes i LIKE, so if i like something, i'm getting it, no matter it's rare or cheap. and that's what i do in real life too.

back on the topic...i kinda like and kinda hate the re-releasing thing. every plus has a minus. i'm feeling sorry for the people paying huge money for the clothes, but at same time feeling happy for the people who will get that piece of clothing for cheap. so, that's my opinion. :]

sorry, this post still seems to me as a "blah-blah-blah", sorry - new news would be better ;)
sozz, if u don't have anything exciting to post about, then just don't do it ... imo

I agree with CottonCandy
Only a few pieces of the LE collections were actually nice,
The rest were so notworth all those stardollars.

Don't waste your money on virtual clothes

Nadia/thegorgusgirl said...

I'm not that annoyed because i'm not a big collector,
but I feel sorry for the big collectors that pay maybe even real money for these things.

I have one question. If a rare item is re-released is it still rare? Like, when it comes out of the market, will people still look at that item as a rare?
That's why I don't know if I should by those re-released rare items or not. Some of the items are kindda ugly (we have to be honest) but people still buy them just 'cause it's a rare. So, should I spend my money on re-released or it's just trowing away money that could go to those really awsome boots at Miss Sixty? (it's just an eg. 'cause I really like those boot but they are REALLY expensive for a pair of boots, in my opinion)

АннаБГригорова said...

It is unfair for people who spend so much money for them , but I think that they didn't have to spend so much money only for one thing. I think that people who are creative can use really cheap clothes and look unique at the same time...so we have to think before buy something. And I don't think that stardoll will re-release the LE or Antidote clothing. So people who are obsessed with rares can buy without bothering that stardoll will re-release their rares.

Melissakuh said...

I don't collect because of the high prices you have to pay. I just think it's not worth it. But people who can and want to give those big amounts to virtual clothing, are free to do it. But I see re-releasing rare items as a good thing. It gives new members and 'poor' members a chance to buy fantastic items for little money.
And Stardoll wouldn't release these things if people wouldn't ask for it. So, I think many people mail people about it if they could re-release such things.
An other thing: People who bought it for a lot of money, have it a long time before it is re-released, so they can make a lot of outfits with it before other people do. And this makes that they maybe get a little more popular or that people will visit them more.

Unknown said...

I think stardoll shouldn't do that. I like collecting because it's challenging and it is proved that humans need some type of competition on their life. And we, stardoll members and collectors, find it on collecting rares... So, it's healthy. But we spend too much money... :/

chocolatofreak said...

There are pros and cons about how Stardoll re-releases their rares.

Most of the time I like it because now I have the chance of finally owning the item (like the vs wings and enchanted dresses)

But what really sucks is that what I they've realased something that I already have? (like old dkny and a few mka rc)

Stardoll is SO annoyinq ;(

xXItsAbellz said...

Gracieux is right.

Stardoll, the site itself never said any of the clothing that we consider 'rare' were actually rare and should be sold at outrageous prices. Of course they would not know. They have a right, because they own the site,to re-release any item they want to at any given time weather people decide against it or not. When youpay that much for an article of clothing on stardoll, you should consider the fact that stardoll may re-release it at any time. The hard thing about this is not being able to tell if stardoll will re-release it, so you either waste a bunch of stardollars or missout on buying that amazing dress, pair of shoes, jewelery, pair of pants, or shirt. If it were me, and I was a collector, I would rather waste some stardollars because if I really wanted the dress I would rather risk losing some sd then not being able to get that item again.
